Dr. Higuchi is an exceptionally dedicated psychiatrist – the first person from Asia to have been awarded the Golden Kraepelin Medal; he also serves as the Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry of Japan.

1972 Graduates from the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo
1979 Receives PhD (in Medicine)
1981 Joins a study abroad program at the Neuroendocrine Laboratory, Physiology Department, University of Manitoba (Canada)
1989 Is appointed Assistant Professor in Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Gunma University
1994 Is appointed Professor in Psychiatry, Fujigaoka Hospital, Showa University
1999 Is appointed Deputy-Director and Director, Kohnodai Hospital, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry
2004 Is appointed President, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry
2010 Is appointed President, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry
2016 Retires from the Center, is appointed Honorary Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Center

Is awarded the Golden Kraepelin Medal in 2014.
